Ride of the Falling Leaves

On the route

Traditionally undertaken at the turn of the seasons, this sportive route is a classic, colourful loop into the North Downs. Head south from Cadence (in place of Herne Hill Velodrome on the official sportive) and escape the traffic in Woldingham Valley.

Out of Woldingham, there's a technical, slippery descent down Tandridge Hill before crossing the M25. Then you're onto to the meat of the route, riding through the villages of Crowhurst, Edenbridge, and Hever. There's a good beer garden at the the Henry VIII in Hever for those in need of refreshment .

Complete the lower loop, and save some matches for climbing on the return, notably Toys and Sundridge Hill. Not a laughing matter, despite the route's popular 'ROFL' abbreviation.

With thanks to Dulwich Paragon CC, who host the annual sportive.
