On the route

One for beginners or a lazy day out, follow the Thames Path around from Richmond to Kingston, avoiding roads for most of the ride. Cross the river and cut into Bushy Park where you can see the deer roaming freely before reaching Hampton Court Palace, one of Henry VIII's residences, at the route's furthest point.

Make your way back to Richmond using the westerly Thames Path before crossing at Teddington Lock. Then it's back past Ham House, and a big finish up the Star and Garter Hill for a drink at the Roebuck with its iconic views of the river.

The route starts and finishes at Richmond Station, where you can get the Overground, District line, or train to Clapham Junction or Waterloo.
